Mountain Lions are also called cougars and pumas. They are about 8 feet long (3 feet of that is the tail) and have a golden tan color. Only the cubs have spots. Mountain Lions are carnivores. They mostly eat deer, averaging one a week. They will also eat raccoons, rodents and other small animals. Mountain Lions like to cover up their kill with leaves and brush and come back to it for several days. They are solitary hunters. Each Mountain Lion needs about 70 square miles for its hunting territory. |
