These sparrow-like birds fly in a wavy flight, singing a scratchy, loud warble. The male is brown and white streaked, with a red face and chest. The color could be any shade of red -- from orange to almost purple -- depending on the kind of food he eats. The female doesn’t have any red coloring. The House Finch is native to Western America and Mexico, but has now spread all over the United States. |
