Striped Shore Crab Pachygrapsus crassipes |
This crab lives in tide pools, and muddy shores of bays and estuaries. You’ll see it scraping algae off rocks and into its mouth with its front pincers. Crabs also eat dead fish and decaying plants. The shores and beaches are cleaner for us because of them. Crabs move sideways. One side pushes while the other pulls. This helps them travel easily and fast over rocks, sand and mud. |
